Neway International are seeking an Educational Psychologist to join our client, London Borough of Bexley, within the Early Intervention and Specialist Advice Service.

Location: Civic Offices, 2 Watling Street, Bexleyheath, Kent, DA6 7AT
Hours: 29 per week (4 days per week required)
Duration: Initially for 6 months
Start Date: 16 March 2026

Rates: PAYE: £600.00 per day Umbrella/Ltd: £835.86 per day

About the Client
The London Borough of Bexley’s Educational Psychology Service provides statutory and early intervention support to children and young people with special educational needs, social, emotional and mental health needs, and complex developmental profiles. The service works closely with schools, families and multi‑agency partners to deliver high‑quality psychological advice, assessment and intervention.

The Role
The Educational Psychologist will support the Local Authority in meeting its statutory duties relating to the identification, assessment and provision for children and young people with SEND. The role includes delivering psychological assessments, providing professional advice for EHCP processes, offering consultation to schools and settings, and contributing to early intervention work to improve outcomes at SEN Support level.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting colleagues through consultation, supervision and collaborative practice, while maintaining high professional standards in line with legislation, service policies and HCPC requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Provide psychological assessments, advice and reports in line with statutory requirements.

Offer consultation, guidance and intervention strategies to schools, settings, parents and carers.

Support early intervention and SEN Support processes to improve outcomes for children and young people.

Contribute to multi‑agency working, supporting professional development across partner services.

Provide advice on developmental, learning, social, emotional and mental health needs.

Monitor service delivery, time allocation and effectiveness, reporting to senior staff as required.

Support training and development activities for school staff, parents and professionals.

Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of legislation, guidance and best practice in Educational Psychology.

Prepare clear, concise and evidence‑based reports.

Ensure safeguarding responsibilities are upheld at all times.

Candidate Requirements
Essential Qualifications

Eligibility for HCPC registration as an Educational Psychologist.

Good honours degree in Psychology.

Postgraduate qualification at Masters or Doctoral level accepted by the AEP/BPS as professional training.

Essential Experience

Experience working with children and young people, including those with SEND.

Experience collaborating with professionals to support development and learning.

Knowledge of current Educational Psychology tools, approaches and techniques.

Understanding of legislation relevant to SEND and Educational Psychology practice.

Other Requirements

Enhanced DBS check.

Ability to travel within and outside the borough with necessary equipment.

Car owner/driver (desirable).
