We are currently looking for anInternal Account Manager(Maternity Cover) to join our team in Tarmac Birtley office, Chester-le-Street coveringmaternity leave. This is an office based highly skilled account manager role operating and achieving commercial success through telephony, email, teams including travel and face to face visits on an adhoc basis across the region. This role is commutable from Gateshead, Sunderland, Durham, Newcastle upon Tyne, Hartlepool, Darlington and the surrounding areas.
This role will directly manage, engage and develop a predetermined portfolio of Tarmac customer accounts aligned to the commercial strategy. You will also ensure optimum success with direct customer account management. Success determined by the achievement of profit, revenue and tonnage target requirements in line with all commercial expectations.

Main Responsibilities
Reporting to the Regional Internal Sales Manager, theInternal Account Manager will be responsible for both customer management, focusing on managing, developing and being the first point of contact for a portfolio of accounts determined by the commercial management team. Your role will also involve commercial planning ensuring all accounts within your portfolio are managed by the creation of accurate, relevant and up to date Account Action Plans.
The role ofInternal Account Managerwill alsobe responsible for:
- Commercial Process – Ensure that all commercial target requirements are achieved through a diligent and intelligent approach aligned with commercial strategy
- Commercial Intelligence – To forge relationships beyond immediate account portfolio with key influencersin order togather market and commercial intelligence.Feed relevant data into the Sales Pipeline management process,sharingand escalating knowledge within the business for commercial gain
- Relationship Management - Building andmaintainingrelationships with predetermined portfolio of customer accounts; managing successful internal relationships
- Customer Service - Ensuring the customer service expectations are met through influence developing a service excellence ethos
- Sales Management -In accordance withpredetermined financial expectations, through account management achieve the securing of targeted levels of revenue and profit with pricing decisions allin accordance withTarmac Pricing Policies
- Full compliance with the competition act 1998
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for the role ofInternal Account Managerwill haveprevioussales experience and be able to create rapport through considered questioning andaccurateactive listening. You will alsodemonstratethe ability to build relationships and trust through providing solutions to a customer’s pain derived from explorative interaction.
In addition to proven sales capability suitable candidates for the role ofInternal Account Managerwill also:
- Understand how to gain commitment and always be aware of how to ‘close the deal’
- Conflict Resolution – be able to handle situations in a positive manner where conflict exists without giving away company liability
- Account Management -demonstrateskills in tracking and developing portfolio of accounts forging working relationships with customers and being the ‘go to person’ for own customers
- Negotiating - effective use of questioning and listening toestablishcustomer needs vs. wants. Proficient in convincing /persuading others
- Influencing - effective at adaptingappropriate approachesto influence and persuade others
- Telephone - proficient use of the system anddemonstratinga consistent professional style and approach
- IT - capability to effectively relevant IT systems
- Self-Management - flexiblyprioritising, planning andmonitoringown activity and progress
- Decision Making - comfortable making decisions adopting a systematic process which accounts for options,risksand commercial gain in line with the needs of the business and the Tarmac Pricing Policies
