We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Preston to assist with the appointment of a Gardener, on a 1-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £13.47 - £17.52 per hour
Summary:
The Gardener will be responsible for carrying out a full range of grounds maintenance and horticultural duties across parks, housing estates, highways verges, and public open spaces. The role involves physical outdoor work in all weather conditions, ensuring that green spaces are maintained to a high standard, safe, and visually appealing for residents and visitors.
Responsibilities:
Carry out grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, pruning, and general grounds maintenance duties.
Plant, weed, water, and maintain flower beds, shrubs, and landscaped areas.
Undertake litter picking and clearance of green waste from designated sites.
Operate and maintain horticultural machinery and hand tools (e.g., mowers, strimmers, hedge cutters) safely and effectively.
Prepare soil and turf areas for planting or landscaping works.
Assist with seasonal tasks such as leaf clearance, bedding displays, and snow/ice clearance where required.
Essentials:
Previous experience in gardening, grounds maintenance, or manual outdoor labour.
Ability to undertake physically demanding work in all weather conditions.
Knowledge of safe use of gardening machinery and tools.
Good understanding of health and safety procedures.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
