Mechanical Technician

Location: Stafford
Contract: Full-time, onsite
Hours: 37 hours per week
Security Clearance: BPSS required

About the Role

We are currently seeking experienced Engineering Technicians to join our General Engineering Workshop at our Stafford site. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to vital defence operations, working with a diverse mix of ground support equipment (GSE) and other mechanical systems.

What You'll Do

As part of a professional technical team, you'll:

  • Diagnose faults, test, repair, maintain, and modify equipment down to component level, following approved engineering documentation.
  • Undertake calibration, fabrication, and refurbishment tasks with precision and accountability.
  • Certify and condition equipment (Serviceable/Unserviceable/Scrap) within an approved framework.
  • Provide guidance, training, and supervision to junior staff and apprentices.
  • Support feasibility, development, and reverse-engineering projects to improve or restore ageing systems.
  • Use IT systems and engineering software to document and manage activities.
  • Deliver specialist advice, ensuring compliance with all the clients engineering standards and policy.

About You

We're looking for candidates who:

  • Have a background in scheduled maintenance, repair, and fault-finding in an engineering or workshop environment.
  • Demonstrate the technical competence to meet EngTech registration requirements under UK-SPEC.
  • Hold a relevant Level 4 qualification with an advanced/higher apprenticeship OR a Level 3 qualification with a recognised engineering apprenticeship and experience in a technical discipline.
