Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a full time Consultant psychiatrist to join our Wimborne Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) and play a key leadership role and influence the evolvement of the existing service in line with the Long-Term Plan and Community Mental Health Framework.

We are in the process of rolling out and embedding the exciting new mental health offer in Dorset as part of the large-scale transformation work and are in the process of building and developing successful relationships with Primary care and the Community. We are developing our Access Wellbeing Universal offer within East Dorset and are in the process of setting up single point of access (SPOA) to deliver a professional referral process.

The Wimborne Community Mental Health team is a small multidisciplinary team, which consists of a mix of highly experienced and skilled staff including an integrated service manager, community mental health nurses, psychology, support time and recovery worker and social workers. In addition to the consultant post the team benefits from a part time senior resident doctor (ST4-6) and full time GP trainee.

We offer a recruitment and retention payment of £10,000 to be paid in monthly instalments for the first year of employment, along with a relocation package of up to £10,000 if you are considering relocating. Wimborne is a beautiful area of Dorset to live and work in and is well placed to access Hampshire, the New Forest, Poole and Bournemouth.

As the consultant psychiatrist you will provide assessment and ongoing care for users of our service, along with advice and guidance to local GP's and clinical leadership of the multi-professional team.

You'll be invited to take part of the on call rota. The on call rota is Dorset wide and paid at 3% on call availability plus additional 0.75PA for full time participation

You will have an office in the Oakley Bungalow, which is shared with the part time resident doctor and adequate administrative support.

The post also attracts 10 days per year of study leave and an annual study leave budget of up to £1000.

We offer a commitment to flexible working, career development opportunities and our excellent NHS benefits. For the opportunity to discuss the role or any questions please contact Dr Rodi Karadimova, Associate Medical Director Community Mental Health Services; rodi.karadimova@nhs.net

For the main duties and responsibilities for this role please read the attached job description and person specification. When completing your application please ensure your supporting statement reflects the criteria set out in these documents by showing how your experience and skills apply to this post.

We understand that using AI can be a useful and supportive tool when completing your application. However, we have also seen an increase in the over-reliance of AI tools which is negatively impacting applications as they remove candidate’s individuality, and it becomes much harder to get a sense of who you are and your authentic experience. If you do use AI, it should be used to enhance your application and not to create your supporting statement in its entirety. If we suspect you have used AI to create your supporting statement and this does not match your experience, we may withdraw your application.
