This is a temporary post for 2 years.



This advert is open to both Internal and External applicants.



Stoke-on-Trent City Council is seeking an Archivist to join the enthusiastic and talented City Archives team. It is an exciting time to join the City Council as wereimagine our museum and archive services, improving the way we celebrate and share Stoke-on-Trent’s rich cultural heritage.



A £5m redevelopment is underway at The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery and2024 saw the move of the City Archives to PMAG, bringing the City’s heritage collections together on one site.



The City Archives provides public access to a rich collection of archives which document the history and culture of the City, including nationally important industrial archives.



We welcome visitors from around the world, particularly researchers of ceramics archives such as The Minton Archive.



Complementing the archive is the comprehensive Local Studies and Pottery Library collection.



The City Archives works with an exciting range of external partners and funding bodies to enhance the delivery of its excellent services.



You will join the team 2 years on from the relocation project during which game-changing improvements were made to collections care, storage and to online access.



The role offers huge potential for the right candidate to make a mark by further improving access to collections through cataloguing, leading volunteers and outreach activities.



The introduction of new software for cataloguing and digital preservation will give scope for professional development.



This role provides fantastic opportunities to build skills and knowledge within a supportive team, and to develop innovative ideas making a real difference in how our heritage is shared and celebrated with the communities of Stoke-on-Trent and its visitors.
