You will support the development and application of quantitative and data-driven approaches to better understand complex and interdependent challenges affecting maritime and port systems, and to translate research outcomes into insights relevant to policy and practice. The work will contribute to evidence-based decision-making and the enhancement of safety and resilience in maritime transportation.
Key responsibilities include: 1) contributing to the analysis of safety, security, and risk-related challenges in maritime transportation systems; 2) supporting the development and application of quantitative and data-driven models for assessing and predicting risks and system performance; and 3) assisting in the development, evaluation, and integration of frameworks that address safety, security, and resilience considerations.
You should possess a good honours degree and a PhD (or equivalent professional experience) in Maritime transportation or Transportation Engineering relevant field. Applicants must demonstrate their research capabilities and ability to disseminate findings through high-quality publications in international journals and refereed conferences. Experience with research projects related to marine engineering and transport engineering is preferred.
You will work with a team of 11 postdoctoral/doctoral researchers in this ERC project on container transport risk, resilience, and sustainability analysis within the Liverpool Logistics Offshore and Marine Research Institute (LOOM) at Liverpool John Moores University, UK. LOOM enjoys an international research reputation on maritime risk studies, https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/research/centres-and-institutes/loom.
