This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with pupils who require tailored emotional support to thrive both academically and personally. At the heart of our mission is creating a secure, calm, supportive, and motivating environment for children and young people. We aim to foster ambition, engagement, achievement, and independence, while thoughtfully addressing the challenges shaped by their earlier experiences.
Your new role
We are now seeking an exceptional leader to join our senior team as Assistant Headteacher & SENCO, with strategic oversight of curriculum, teaching, learning, and inclusion.
This is a pivotal leadership position for someone who is passionate about inclusive practice and determined to ensure that every pupil-regardless of their starting point-can experience success. You will shape the curriculum, drive high-quality teaching, and lead our whole-school approach to SEND and SEMH provision.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership of SEND across the school, ensuring statutory compliance and best practice.
- Oversee the design, development, and implementation of a broad, ambitious, and personalised curriculum.
- Lead on teaching and learning, supporting staff to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed practice.
- Work closely with external agencies, families, and professionals to secure the best outcomes for pupils.
- Line-manage and develop staff, modelling reflective, relational, and restorative approaches.
- Use data and assessment intelligently to inform planning, intervention, and whole-school improvement.
- Contribute to the wider strategic leadership of the school as part of the Senior Leadership Team.
What you'll need to succeed
We are looking for a leader who is:
- A qualified SENCO (or working towards the NASENCO award).
- Experienced in working with children with SEMH needs or within specialist settings.
- Skilled in curriculum leadership and passionate about high-quality teaching.
- Emotionally intelligent, resilient, and committed to relational practice.
- Able to inspire, challenge, and support staff to grow professionally.
- Driven by a belief in equity, inclusion, and the potential of every young person.
What you'll get in return
- A supportive and forward-thinking team
- Opportunities for professional development and training
- A chance to make a lasting impact on the lives of vulnerable learners
- A positive, inclusive and values-driven working environment
