Summary

The jobholder will have overall responsibility for the management of nursing/associated staff and the management of midwifery resources/budgets within the CSU or a part of it. The jobholder will be accountable for ensuring the highest standard of clinical care is provided within the wards and departments for which they are responsible and ensure the principles of clinical governance are implemented at a local level. The jobholder will work in partnership with the facilities department in ensuring high standards of hospital cleanliness is maintained, embracing the principles outlined in the Matrons charter. The jobholder will be easily identifiable to patients, provide strong leadership through a visible presence and provide support, advice and assistance required by patients, their families and carers. The jobholder will also support the implementation of the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS), being a focal point for advice to patients and carers and local resolution of complaints. Current services comprise delivery suites on both SJUH and LGI sites. The jobholder has through Senior Midwives direct management of midwifery and support staff. The jobholder has direct line management of the specialist midwives within the CSU or a part of it.
