Kitchen Manager – The Honey Pot, Penzance
We are looking for an experienced Kitchen Manager to take operational leadership of our kitchen in a full-time senior position, year-round - beginning spring 2026.
This is not just a cooking role. We are seeking someone who can take full ownership of the job; lead, organise and manage, as well as having a passion for great food and thriving in a fast-paced service environment.
The Role
You will be responsible for the smooth, efficient and organised running of the kitchen, including:
• Leading and motivating the kitchen team in prep & service
• Managing stock ordering and supplier relationships
• Maintaining rigorous food safety and hygiene standards
• Overseeing kitchen systems, processes and documentation
• Completing administrative tasks accurately and independently
• Being available off shift to manage kitchen staff needs e.g. sickness cover
• Supporting the owner with menu development and seasonal planning
• Contributing to evening menu development and events
This is an operational management role, and although you will have the opportunity to contribute creatively, menu design is primarily the responsibility of the owner, Rachel.
Essential Skills & Experience
• Previous experience in a kitchen management or supervisory role
• Clear leadership and independent decision-making ability
• Highly organised and proactive
• Confident using IT systems (Word, Excel, email, spreadsheets)
• Able to manage admin tasks such as price comparisons, documentation and supplier communication
• Food Hygiene Level 2 minimum (Level 3 preferred)
• Availability to work weekends, school holidays and evenings
Experience cooking in a fast-paced professional service kitchen is essential, but strong leadership, administration and the ability to manage your own workload are equally important.
Hours & Pay
• Approx. 37 hours per week averaged across the year
• Higher summer hours / lower winter hours
• £15.60 per hour starting rate. Approx. £30,000 per annum equivalent
• 3-month trial period
