My Life was established in 2012 as a result of a group of people with disabilities and their families wanting something different to traditional types of health/social care services and wanting more choice and control over their own lives. We pride ourselves on being a unique service. We offer personalised support to a diverse range of individuals living in their own homes and in our respite chalets. Each person has their own dedicated team, delivering support that’s tailored specifically to their needs and preferences. This isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach—it's about making sense for them and making a difference.
About the Role:
You will be a key part of our frontline community support team, delivering high-quality care while taking responsibility for the smooth day-to-day running of the team. You’ll work closely with the Team Manager to provide effective leadership and hands-on support.
Key Responsibilities:
· Providing direct care and support to individuals, including personal care, mobility assistance, emotional support, and help with daily living skills
· Supporting individuals who may present with behaviours that challenge, using positive behaviour support techniques and maintaining a calm, person-centred approach
· Ensuring that care plans, support documentation, and rota systems are up-to-date, accurate, and comply with internal policies and regulatory requirements
· Acting as a role model for best practice and supporting staff with on-the-job guidance and encouragement
· Working closely with families, external professionals, and internal teams to promote the best possible outcomes for the individuals we support
· Ensuring compliance with safeguarding, health & safety, and data protection policies at all times
· Participating in a flexible working rota to provide leadership across all shift patterns (including weekends and evenings)
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking committed and compassionate individuals who brings both practical care experience and the ability to lead by example.
Essential:
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Health & Social Care
Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, complex care needs or mental health needs
Confidence in handling behaviours that challenge and applying consistent, person-centred support strategies
Experience maintaining and managing accurate care records, risk assessments, and support plans
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks in a busy, dynamic environment
Flexibility to work across a 4-week rolling rota, including weekends and public holidays
Strong values that align with My Life’s mission of inclusion, dignity, and empowerment
A Full Driver’s Licence is required
Desirable:
NVQ Level 4 or working towards
Previous experience in a team leader or senior support worker role
Knowledge of CQC standards and safeguarding procedures
Experience supporting respite or short-break services
