We have an exciting opportunity to join JBA’s Talent and Training team based at our head office in North Yorkshire, working alongside other Learning & Development (L&D) professionals including our Head of L&D.

You will be joining an award-winning environmental and engineering consultancy which puts innovation, sustainability and resilience at the heart of its work.

We are independent and staff-owned under a stewardship model which drives long term decision making and investment. We have offices in the UK, Ireland, Romania, India, Singapore and Australia.

Our people are all important and we invest heavily in life-long learning and skills development. We support hybrid working which provides for greater flexibility with the way that we work.

The role will involve:

• Operating with both autonomy and accountability, whilst working closely with our in-house Subject Matter Experts, you will lead the outline design, storyboarding, build and quality assurance of new technical learning programmes across multiple modalities, including blended, digital and face to face learning. Where appropriate you will identify and liaise with suitable certifying bodies.
• Taking responsibility for managing the delivery/distribution of existing technical learning programmes to our workforce, supply-chain and clients. Using analytics and feedback to measure impact, you will identify opportunities to optimise, streamline or innovate to drive improvements.
• Take the lead on marketing and publicising JBA training programmes to new clients and sectors and collaborate with our internal comms team to build campaigns that increase visibility, awareness and adoption of learning programmes to our own workforce.
• Collaborate, support and mentor upcoming L&D professionals in the Talent and Training Team, acting as a trusted expert and point of escalation for complex learning queries.

Longer term you can expect to work more closely with our Head of L&D to contribute to transformational talent management and training programmes. Building relationships across the company, you will take on the coordination of bidding and tendering for client-led training opportunities. As such you will embark on JBA’s project manager development programme to gain project manager status within JBA.

The team member we are looking for:

You will be an established L&D professional with experience in instructional design, and/or managing a portfolio of learning and development solutions. Ideally you will be a member of a relevant professional organisation such as the Learning and Performance Institute (LPI), the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) or Association for Talent Development (ATD) and have a demonstrable commitment to continued professional development.

Further Education (to at least Level 5) in a relevant subject area is expected. You’ll also be able to demonstrate established skills and credentials in L&D delivery and hold a professional accreditation or chartered status relevant to the role, or a clear commitment towards achieving this soon.

Essential attributes for the role:

• Experience leading, managing or coordinating L&D programmes or learning and capability change initiatives
• End-to-end experience of instructional design, covering analysis, design, development, delivery and evaluation.
• Proven experience of taking accountability for working with subject matter experts and wider stakeholders to design and deliver learning solutions aligned to organisational needs.
• The ability to proofread and critically review technical or complex subject matter, ensuring clarity and accuracy. Our training materials are delivered in English.
• Thorough knowledge and proven application of quality assurance and quality enhancement principles within learning and development.
• Proven experience of working to a high degree of autonomy, with the ability to self-organise and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
• A strong mindset of continuous learning and self-development, demonstrated through active CPD.

Desirable attributes for the role:

• A Level 6 or 7 qualification in Learning and Development or an equivalent discipline.
• Strong business acumen, ability to balance commercial drivers with operational realities and set out a clear business case and costings for new initiatives.
• Proven people leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing L&D teams.
• A project management qualification or demonstrable experience leading complex projects under pressure.
• Knowledge of key trends within the L&D industry, including the use of Artificial Intelligence in L&D.
• Experience operating within governance, assurance or compliance frameworks relevant to learning and development.

Location:

The role is based in our modern, eco-friendly offices at Broughton Park, near Skipton, North Yorkshire, BD23 3FD that includes ample free parking and EV charging points.
