Location: Fareham & Gosport district
Delivery: Face‑to‑face (preferred location: Fareham Library)
Hours: 14 hours per week
Days: Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday (school hours)
Possible Extension: Tuition may also be required over the Easter holidays
We are urgently seeking an experienced tutor to work with a 15‑year‑old learner with significant SEMH needs who has recently been permanently excluded. The student requires a calm, consistent and relationship‑focused tutor who can deliver structured learning across English, Maths and Science in 2‑hour blocks. Sessions will take place face‑to‑face, ideally at Fareham Library.
- English: 6 hours per week
- Maths: 4 hours per week
- Science: 4 hours per week
- Total: 14 hours per week, delivered across Tues/Wed/Thurs
The student has an EHCP with the following identified needs:
- Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) affecting:
Processing and retaining verbal information
Understanding non‑literal language
Organising ideas and forming coherent narratives
Interpreting social cues and maintaining topic‑focused dialogue

We are looking for a tutor who:
- Has experience supporting learners with SEMH and/or DLD
- Can deliver core subjects in a structured, accessible way
- Uses calm, predictable and low‑demand approaches
- Is confident supporting re‑engagement following exclusion
- Can build trust gradually and manage dysregulation sensitively
- Is reliable, patient and skilled at breaking down learning tasks

- Deliver engaging, personalised learning sessions
- Support learners with varying needs and learning styles
- Track progress and adapt teaching approaches where needed
- Work in homes, schools, or community settings depending on placement
Requirements
- 6 months working in UK schools
- Strong subject knowledge in English, Maths and/or Science
- Experience tutoring or teaching (school, intervention, tuition centre, or mentoring)
- Ability to build positive relationships with students
- Reliable, organised, and confident working independently
- A current enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
