The Department for Transport (DfT) is a high-profile department at the heart of UK government. We work with agencies and partners to support the transport network, getting people and goods around the country. We plan and invest to make journeys better.
The purpose of the Culture and Capability Division is to enable the DfT to equip our people with the skills and positive working environment needed for everyone to thrive and achieve their best. The division brings together a number of different teams all working towards making DfT an inclusive and high performing organisation. Within the division we have teams focusing on:
- Capability, Skills and Inclusion projects to define how we attract and develop the skills and diverse talent we need for now and into the future,
- Design of Culture and Leadership development initiatives aimed at creating the optimum environment for high performance. Alongside performance evaluation and insights to inform the design of future culture and capability building work and ensure the effective running of existing services.
- Delivery of learning, talent, apprenticeship, inclusion, wellbeing and engagement services
While we have a rich tapestry of expertise and specialist knowledge across the team, there is also the expectation that all team members work flexibly across the division to deliver against our broader portfolio of work. This offers a range of opportunity for involvement in a range of work, and all team members are supported in personal development to ensure that we are the best that we can be and can be proud of the service we provide for DfT.
Joining our department comes with many benefits, including:
- Employer pension contribution of 28.97% of your salary. Read more about Civil Service Pensions here
- 25 days annual leave, increasing by 1 day each year of service (up to a maximum of 30 days annual leave), plus 8 bank holidays a privilege day for the King’s birthday
- Flexible working options where we encourage a great work-life balance.
