Summary


Due to retirements we have a rare opportunity for two or three candidates to join the small and friendly team of Porters at Alnwick Infirmary. Two positions are available -

Post 1 -full time post - 37.5 hrs per week worked over a 3 week shift pattern over Monday - Sunday between the hours of 0630am and 2130pm. This post could also be worked as an equal job share between two candidates of 18.75 hrs per week each.

Post 2- part time post - 22.5 hrs - currently worked as Monday - Friday 0900am-1330pm, although some flexibility is required.

Driving duties form part of this role therefore a full, clean UK driving licence is essential for this role.





The post will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

To provide a comprehensive Porter service to all Wards and
Departments on site to be flexible in approach to work and undertake other duties that are assigned under the role.

The provision of a high quality, efficient customer orientated Portering
service and compliance with the Trust Patient Confidentiality Policy.

Driving duties are an essential part of this role - to facilitate collection and deliveries of bloods, specimens, post and other items from surrounding GP surgeries, clinics and hospital sites.

The successful candidate would be required to assist in the direction of patients and visitors as well as the following:

The conveyance and movement of patients by wheelchair, stretcher etc.

The collection and delivery of linen, refuse, clinical waste trolleys, food trolleys, stores, beds, bedding, furniture, equipment and records to designated area.

The sorting of incoming mail and franking of external mail as required.

Reception and movement of medical gas cylinders within Health and Safety guidelines.

Removal of refuse from waste bins located outside the hospital entrance, on a daily basis.

Daily cleaning of external areas situated at hospital entrances.
