George Abbot School is seeking a highly capable and professional Headteacher’s PA and Office Manager to provide exceptional executive support and lead the smooth daily running of our school office. As a large and thriving 11–18 comprehensive school, we require someone who brings calm efficiency, initiative and strong interpersonal skills to a fast paced and varied role.
In this key position, you will act as the central point of coordination for the Headteacher, managing complex diaries, prioritising demands and ensuring communication flows effectively across the school community. You will lead the administrative team, fostering a positive, service focused culture, ensuring that processes are well organised, compliant and continuously improving. Alongside overseeing office operations, you will manage core communication channels - including parent and staff bulletins - and ensure website content is accurate and aligned with statutory requirements.
The role requires excellent judgement, confidentiality and the ability to handle sensitive matters with professionalism. You should be an experienced PA or operational lead who is confident engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, from staff, parents/carers and students to governors and external partners. Strong written accuracy, organisational skill and a flexible approach to shifting priorities are essential. Experience within a school setting is desirable but not essential.
In this role, you will help shape the daily rhythm of the school by ensuring leadership, support services and communications all work seamlessly together. Your contribution will strengthen the school’s capacity to deliver its vision with clarity, purpose and unity.
Please contact Georgie Newman, to organise a school tour or for an informal discussion about the role.
Why choose us?
Ofsted (February 2025) said: “Staff and pupils work hard together in this strong school community. The school is highly ambitious for its pupils. Staff provide high-quality teaching and support which takes account of pupils’ starting points and needs. The school is a calm, safe, purposeful place. Pupils are exceptionally courteous and polite. They treat each other with respect and care.”
Good Schools Guide (June 2024) said: “Parents and pupils attribute the school’s success to its ‘strong leadership’ and ‘supportive teachers’. Pupils felt that many go ‘above and beyond’, making lessons enjoyable and interactive and sharing their passion for their subjects. The school motto, "not for oneself but for all," encourages an altruistic and reflective attitude.”
