Who are we?
The West Midlands Growth Company (WMGC) is the region’s economic development delivery organisation.
From April 2026, we will lead the delivery of regionally commissioned economic development activity aligned to the West Midlands Growth Plan, working in partnership with the West Midlands Combined Authority and local authorities.
We are building a sharper, business-focused organisation that attracts investment, supports high-growth companies and drives measurable economic impact.

As our new High Growth Support Executive, you’ll join a forward thinking, collaborative team that values fresh ideas and innovation. You’ll be involved in:
- Support high potential businesses by assisting High Growth Account Managers in delivering insight, challenge, and tailored growth plans to scale ambitious companies across the West Midlands.
- Drive regional economic impact by gathering business intelligence, shaping growth programmes, and strengthening collaboration across the ecosystem including local authorities, universities, and industry partners.
- Represent the WM Growth Hub to ensure a seamless business support journey, helping translate public investment into productivity, innovation, and high-value job creation for the region.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop strong relationships with SMEs and identify solutions to their growth challenges by understanding the regional business support landscape.
- Assess SME growth potential by reviewing business ideas, supporting business plans and advising on finance options
- Proactively identify high growth potential SMEs and refer them to a High Growth Account Manager.
- Liaise with Local Authorities to deliver seamless Information
- Support the High Growth Account Managers in delivering high-quality, impactful services to ambitious businesses.
- Ensure accurate CRM data management, tracking all client interactions, progress and outputs in a timely and compliant manner.
- Work collaboratively with delivery partners and ecosystem stakeholders to ensure programmes are relevant, impactful, and informed by business feedback.
- Provide a consistent, high quality service on behalf of the Growth Hub, ensuring SMEs receive proactive, professional and effective support always.
What You’ll Bring
Essential:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage, influence and build credibility with senior executives.
- Proven relationship-building and networking ability, with experience working collaboratively with partners, suppliers, businesses and your colleagues.
- Commercial awareness and good working knowledge of business management, with sound judgement in complex situations.
- High level of IT literacy, confident using MS Office to produce high-quality documents, reports and presentations.
Desirable:
- Experience using a CRM system, ideally Zoho or a similar platform.
- Understanding of business investment processes and public sector decision making, especially within advanced engineering, professional services, low carbon or life science environments.
