Programme structure and applicant specificationSpecific ICM Consultants will monitor educational progress, and successfulcandidates will be expected to display suitable WPBA to justify progress duringthe clinical attachment.Successful candidates will deliver 0.8 WTE clinical activity to the unit,including the Oxford Critical Care resident on-call rota, with the remainder (0.2WTE) provided for simulation and education training. This is expected to be 1to 2 days weekly after leave allowances. This time will allow the successfulcandidate to work with the OxSTaR (www.OxSTaR.ox.ac.uk) team, which willsupervise and support the educational components of the post.OxSTaR is the University of Oxfords purpose-built, state-of-the-art medicalsimulation teaching and research facility within the Nuffield Division ofAnaesthetics at the John Radcliffe Hospital. It provides pioneering training toa wide range of health care and related workers while supporting researchinto how clinical simulation can enhance existing approaches to training.Technology at OxSTaR can be used to create particularly challenging clinicalscenarios or to examine and refine teamwork. Using simulation and otherapproaches, human factors training is currently an area of rapid growth atOxSTaR.
