Crynodeb
Regarding this post, the Hepatobiliary and Liver Transplant surgery team comprises eight full-time consultants who provide services throughout Yorkshire and the North-West region. The service currently offers: - Approximately 150 (adult and paediatric) liver transplants are performed annually. - Around 170 Organ Retrievals - Over 250 Liver Resections - Active Live Donor Liver Transplant Program for Adult & Paediatric Recipients within the NHS - Elective General Surgery 2. OBJECTIVES OF THE POST To support the delivery of Hepatobiliary, Organ Retrieval (NORS) and General Surgery services at Leeds Teaching Hospitals and achieve and sustain performance against key national waiting time standards. To act as an ambassador for the Leeds NORS service and contribute to the role of Leeds as a training centre for Retrieval and Transplant Surgery. To broaden the minimally invasive approach in liver resection procedures (Robotic Liver Surgery). To participate in and lead clinical audits on Hepatobiliary and Organ Retrieval, and to help drive quality improvement, efficiency, and productivity initiatives within the department. To work alongside the Clinical Lead in delivering robust governance frameworks in line with commissioning and internal processes. To participate in a 1:5 Consultant Retrieval on-call rota to provide in-hours and out-of-hours organ retrieval services and Machine perfusion. To be adaptable to service requirements, provide clinical expertise to the teams based in referring centres and maintain Leeds as a centre of excellence in specialist care. To sustain and advance clinical research in organ procurement, preservation, and hepatobiliary surgery, while fostering innovation. To support Leeds' role as a training centre for Hepatobiliary surgery and organ procurement.
