Are you looking to take ownership of a high-profile security contract and build strong, trusted stakeholder relationships across a national museum group?
About us
At the Science Museum Group (SMG), we make it our mission to inspire futures. To keep our museums safe, accessible and open for all, we are committed to protecting our buildings, collections, employees and visitors. A key part of delivering this is our Safety team, which includes responsibility for Health & Safety and Security.
We are now looking for a permanent Contract Manager to join the team.
About the role
As Contract Manager, you will play an instrumental role in managing our security contract at a critical time for SMG. Working closely with Operations teams, you will ensure the contract is proportionate to the security risks at each site and represents an efficient and effective use of our resources.
With a new contract due to be in place from March 2027, this is a real opportunity to shape and innovate how we manage contract processes, performance and relationships across the Group.
Based at the Science Museum, you will manage the contract across multiple sites, with regular travel required. Hybrid working is available in line with current policy, with a minimum of 60% of working hours onsite, to be agreed with your line manager.
About you
You will bring experience of negotiating and managing complex contracts, with a strong understanding of how to balance risk, performance and value. You'll be comfortable working across a range of environments, including different geographical areas and demographics, adapting your approach to meet varied operational challenges.
At the heart of this role is stakeholder relationship management. You will have effective leadership, influencing and communication skills, with a proven ability to work constructively with internal stakeholders, subject specialists and external consultants or contractors. You understand that successful contract management is not just about compliance and KPIs, but about building trust, setting clear expectations and driving shared accountability.
If you thrive in environments where collaboration, clarity and sound judgement matter, this role offers the platform to make a tangible impact.
Don't feel you meet all the criteria? We welcome you to apply even if your experience doesn't match directly. With your transferable skills, you could be the right candidate for this, or other opportunities that we have.
