Your new role
We are currently working with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Newton le Willows who are seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in Key Stage 2. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about helping children thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support a KS2 pupil with additional learning needs, helping them access the curriculum and develop key skills in a nurturing, structured environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with special educational needs within a KS2 classroom.
- Implement personalised learning strategies and EHCP targets.
- Deliver tailored interventions in literacy, numeracy, social skills and emotional regulation.
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt resources and learning materials.
- Support the pupil's independence, confidence and engagement in learning.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and parents.
- Encourage inclusion and ensure the pupil can participate safely in all classroom and school activities.
- Assist with managing sensory needs, breaks and structured routines.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to review meetings when needed.
- Build strong, positive relationships with the pupil to create a safe and trusting environment.
What you'll need to succeed
- Experience working with children in any educational or childcare setting (school, nursery, youth work, support work etc.).
- Understanding of safeguarding and the ability to follow school policies.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly.
- Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- Full right to work in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to obtain one.
