Location: Docks Way, Newport, NP20 2NS, United Kingdom
Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Duration: 4 years
Rates: PAYE: £13.26 per hour, Umbrella/Ltd: £17.10 per hour
Work Pattern
Monday – Thursday, 07:30 – 15:30
Friday, 07:30 – 15:00
About the Client
Newport City Council’s Waste & Cleansing service operates within the Environment and Sustainability directorate, delivering essential frontline services that support environmental protection, waste management, and public safety. The Landfill and Waste Disposal Site team ensures efficient site operations, regulatory compliance, and accurate data management to support sustainable waste processing across the region.
The Role
The Weighbridge Administrator will play a key role in the smooth running of the Waste Disposal Site, working within a small two‑person team to ensure accurate monitoring and recording of all vehicle movements. This position is essential to maintaining operational flow, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and supporting the wider waste management function through precise administrative processes.
Key Responsibilities
Operate the site weighbridge system to record vehicle weights and produce accurate documentation.
Maintain precise digital and manual records of all site transactions, ensuring data accuracy and timely entry into internal systems.
Direct drivers and contractors on arrival, ensuring safe traffic flow and adherence to site protocols.
Provide administrative support including filing, processing documentation, and responding to enquiries via phone and email.
Support the operational team in maintaining compliance with site procedures and regulatory requirements.
Candidate Requirements
Eligibility to work in the UK.
Completion of a Criminal Convictions Declaration.
CV and two years of references/work history.
Strong communication skills and a professional, proactive attitude.
Basic IT proficiency and accurate data entry skills.
Ability to work effectively within a small team.
High attention to detail in administrative tasks.
Desirable: Experience in an administrative, logistics, or site‑based environment.
