Role Summary
The role requires a compassionate, proactive, and person-centred approach, with a strong emphasis on promoting independence and self-esteem for all individuals. Successful applicants will demonstrate an ability to build positive relationships, communicate effectively, and adapt support to the evolving needs of each participant. As a 1:1 support worker you will be expected to support individuals within the community on general outings/activities and at the business premises.
A background in supporting clients with additional needs including intimate personal care and support is essential.

Responsibilities
1. Encourage active participation in community activities, aiming to build confidence and foster a sense of belonging.
2. Maintain accurate and up to date records of the work undertaken with the individuals and complete written reports for progress meetings.
3. Communicate any significant developments or concerns promptly to the relevant team members, ensuring transparency and facilitating timely interventions.
4. Promote positive risk-taking by enabling individuals to make informed choices, while always ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
5. Work diligently to empower participants by encouraging choices and celebrating achievements, both big and small.
6. Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling and approach, ensuring that everyone’s preferences and routines are respected.
7. Remain attentive to changes in participants’ behaviour or circumstances, responding promptly and appropriately to emerging needs.
8. Always uphold clear and respectful communication, both with participants and colleagues, to ensure a collaborative and positive atmosphere within the service.
Health & Safety and Record Keeping
9. Ensure compliance with all organisational policies and procedures related to health and safety, including regular risk assessments and routine checks of equipment and facilities.
10. Take proactive steps to minimise risks and support the implementation of emergency procedures when required.
11. Attend mandatory training sessions and refresher courses as required, keeping up to date with current legislation and organisational policies.
12. Consistently maintain accurate records in accordance with data protection and confidentiality standards, ensuring that all documentation is clear, concise, and stored securely.
13. Regularly review and update records to reflect changes in individuals’ needs, preferences, and support plans, facilitating effective coordination of care across the team.
Safeguarding
14. Act swiftly and responsibly in the event of a safeguarding issue, ensuring that all concerns are documented comprehensively and shared with the designated safeguarding lead without delay.
15. Always maintain confidentiality, respecting the privacy and dignity of those involved while adhering to organisational policies and statutory guidance.
16. Follow safeguarding protocols and consult with relevant authorities if necessary.
Liaison with Parents/Carers, Adult Social Care and Health Professionals
17. Establish and maintain open and effective communication with parents, carers, Adult Social Care, and health professionals.
18. Respond promptly to enquiries, provide updates on client progress, and share relevant information in a timely and sensitive manner.
