Summary
At Booker, we’re here to help businesses thrive — and technology plays a huge part in making that happen. We’re building platforms our colleagues can trust every day, and we’re looking for someone who shares that passion for reliability, simplicity and great service.
As our Technology Manager for Enterprise Platforms & Engineering, you’ll lead the management of our SAP and MyProduct (Supplier Toolkit) platforms, as well as associated enterprise systems. You’ll make sure our services are stable, secure and well‑governed, while driving strong engineering quality and supporting an ambitious change roadmap.
You’ll be responsible for a 24/7/365 support model, helping us move from a best‑endeavours approach to a professional, predictable operation with clear ownership. Working closely with our central Product team, you will bring structure, clarity and accountability to engineering delivery, operational readiness and continuous improvement.
This is a role that makes a real difference — keeping critical services running while enabling future innovation across Booker.
- Lead the day‑to‑day management of SAP, MyProduct and the wider platform portfolio, ensuring stable, secure and reliable performance.
- Own end‑to‑end support for a 24/7/365 operation, including participation in a rota and supporting out‑of‑hours incident leadership when needed.
- Design and embed a professional support model, including rotas, runbooks, SLAs/OLAs, knowledge management and robust problem‑management processes.
- Strengthen operational governance, including monitoring, incident processes, tooling and documentation standards.
- Lead engineering execution of the change agenda, including delivery planning, release coordination and operational readiness.
- Act as quality gate owner for unit testing and engineering assurance, ensuring changes meet agreed standards.
- Build strong partnerships with the central Product function, aligning on outcomes and priorities while owning engineering delivery and support.
- Drive supplier and partner performance through structured governance and outcome‑focused vendor management.
- Manage cross‑platform dependencies and prioritisation to ensure safe, cohesive delivery.
- Own Finance Continuous Improvement and key Finance integrations, while supporting People platforms and shaping future engineering ownership.
- Guide platform evolution and transitions across SAP, MyProduct and other strategic systems, maintaining continuity throughout change.
- Experience leading enterprise platforms in a service‑critical environment, balancing day‑to‑day operations with delivery of change.
- Strong operational leadership with a track record of designing or improving support models (SLAs/OLAs, incident management, rotas, problem management).
- Confidence managing delivery through suppliers, with strong vendor governance and quality control.
- Ability to own engineering quality and release readiness, including where suppliers deliver the build.
- Experience working with a Product function, translating outcomes and priorities into clear delivery plans.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including influencing and managing expectations at senior levels.
- SAP experience is helpful — but what matters most is your ability to lead, steady critical services, and support teams through change.
