What skills and experience we're looking for

Qualifications:

Essential: • Good numeracy and literacy skills (GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English). • CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate in People Practice, currently working towards this qualification / or a keen interest.

Desirable: • Degree or equivalent higher‑level qualification. • CIPD Level 3 or working towards the qualification with relevant experience.

Experience:

Essential: • Strong administrative experience, ideally in a busy HR or compliance‑driven environment. • High level of competence using ICT, including Microsoft Office 365 and MS Teams. • Experience working effectively as part of a fast‑paced team.

Desirable: • Experience working in a generalist HR environment. • Experience supporting HR activity in an education setting. • Familiarity with DBS, safeguarding protocols, or safer recruitment processes. • Experience contributing to change management or HR improvement projects. • Previous use of iTrent or similar HR information systems.

Professional Skills and Attributes:

Essential: • Highly organised and methodical approach to administration, documentation, and record keeping. • Excellent attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy and compliance. • Able to plan effectively, prioritise workload, and meet deadlines reliably. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Calm, courteous, and professional manner. • Ability to work independently in the office, using initiative, while also supporting HR team objectives. • Strong interpersonal skills, able to build positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders. • Data‑literate with the ability to handle, interpret, and present information in a clear and meaningful way.

Desirable: • Experience supporting employees and line managers at different levels with HR administrative or compliance matters.

Knowledge and Understanding:

Essential: • Understanding of basic employment law principles and HR best practice or a keen interest to learn. • Awareness of confidentiality requirements, including GDPR, FOIs and SARs. • Understanding of the importance of compliant HR processes and accurate record keeping. • Experience using HR systems or databases (any platform).

Desirable: • Understanding of teachers’ terms and conditions of employment. • knowledge of HR systems, reporting tools, or database management.
