Job Title: Breakfast Playworker
Actual Annual Salary: £2,804 - £2,886 (£12.86 per hour) Based on hours and weeks worked.Full Time Equivalent Salary: £24,819 - £25,548 (CLF Grade Aii) Based on 37 hours per week, all year round.
Contract: Permanent, Part Time, Term Time Only
Hours: 5 hours per week (8:00am – 9:00am Monday to Friday)
Provisional Start Date: 20th April 2026

Woodlands Academy are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic playworker to join our team, providing a safe and engaging environment for children. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with young children, demonstrating strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both children and parents. This role is essential in supporting children's development through play and structured activities in a primary setting.
Duties
Manage daily activities and routines to ensure a safe and stimulating environment for children.
Communicate effectively with children, encouraging their participation in play and learning activities.
Supervise children during playtime, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
Plan and implement engaging activities that promote physical, social, and emotional development.
Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues to create a supportive community.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the play area, ensuring all equipment is safe and suitable for use.
Collaborate with other staff members to support the overall objectives of the nursery.
About you:
You will:
have an understanding of the varied needs of children and families
have an appropriate First Aid qualification or willingness to undertake training
have strong interpersonal skills, in particular demonstrates empathy and active listening
be able to deal with inappropriate behaviour in a calm and non-judgemental way, following academy guidance
be patient, calm and able to work under pressure

Woodlands Academy is a single form entry primary school, with a nursery provision situation in Stockwood, Bristol. Our school is hidden off the main road, but has amazing school grounds with extensive field space, a forest area, a garden and three ponds.
