The Project

We are seeking an experienced NEC Supervisor to support the delivery of two new bus stops at Mosley Common on the Guided Busway in Greater Manchester.

The works form part of a privately funded development under planning obligations and will be delivered under an NEC4 ECC Option A contract. The current tender programme indicates a construction period from June 2026 to October 2026 (subject to review and baseline agreement with the Contractor).

This is a key infrastructure scheme requiring robust contract administration, quality control, and defect management throughout construction and the post-completion period.

Role Overview

The NEC Supervisor will act on behalf of the Client to ensure that the works are delivered in accordance with the Works Information and contract requirements, with particular focus on quality control and defect management.

The role will be part-time for most of the construction period (approximately 2.5 days per week), increasing to full-time during the planned busway closure window (estimated 3-4 weeks at the end of July 2026).

Post-completion, the role will require approximately 1 day per month during the 52-week Defects Period (to October 2027).

Key Responsibilities

Undertake the role of NEC3/NEC4 Supervisor in accordance with contract requirements

Monitor works to ensure compliance with the Works Information

Manage and maintain the Defects Register

Inspect works and notify Defects in accordance with NEC procedures

Ensure quality control processes are robustly implemented on site

Liaise with the Project Manager, Contractor, and key stakeholders

Attend site during critical activities, including full-time presence during the busway closure period

Provide post-completion inspection and defect management support during the 52-week Defects Period

Support cost and programme certainty for reporting back to the private developer funder

Candidate Requirements

NEC3/NEC4 Supervisor Accreditation (essential)

Strong experience in earthworks and civil engineering projects

Experience delivering projects aligned to RIBA Stages

Proven experience managing quality assurance and defect processes under NEC contracts

Strong understanding of NEC ECC Option A contracts

Ability to work independently in a site-based supervisory role

Excellent record keeping and reporting skills

Experience in telecoms and electrical works is not essential.

Engagement Details

Part-time role during main construction period (average 2.5 days/week)

Full-time site presence required during busway closure (approx. 3-4 weeks)

Ongoing light-touch involvement (approx. 1 day/month) during 52-week Defects Period

Outside IR35 status to be confirmed (if applicable)
