Annual Leave: 35 days pro rata plus standard public holidays & an additional 4 days including the closure of our offices between Christmas & New Year
Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield
The University of Hertfordshire is opening a new Medical School with the first cohort of students starting in September 2026. There is currently a motivated academic and clinical core team, developing, adopting and adapting the MBBS curriculum in line with City St George’s Medical School, University of London, who are our sponsor. We are now seeking to expand our team to implement the curriculum in preparation for the arrival of our students. Newly appointed staff will receive full support from our existing team.
Main duties and responsibilities
The postholder is responsible for development and delivery of clinical communication and diversity in teaching and assessment for Year 1 on the MBBS programme. For the first student cohort this will be an adaption and adoption of the curriculum from our sponsor-City St George’s university. The postholder will lead the clinical skills and develop, coordinate and deliver the clinical skills teaching and assessment for year 1of the MBBS Programme.
Skills and experience required
The successful candidate will have relevant experience of the teaching and/or assessment of clinical skills in a healthcare professionals programme and/or experience of teaching clinical skills in a healthcare setting, as well as experience of working with simulated patients/actors in teaching and/or assessment.
You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the pedagogy underpinning effective clinical skills teaching (including clinical reasoning and practical procedural skills) necessary for a newly qualified doctor and have experience of effectively giving constructive feedback.
You will have excellent facilitation skills, alongside strong organisational and administrative skills, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Qualifications required
The postholder must be a registered medical practitioner (MBBS or equivalent) and have full registration with the GMC.
