The rotation receives excellent feedback from our current Band 6’s such as:
'The rotation offers a highly valuable experience to develop clinical skills with exposure to complex patients'
'Encouragement was given to take time for different parts of the role e.g. service development, training, teaching others, own wellbeing.'
We have available 2 posts:
1.0wte (37.5hrs) permanent (part time at a minimum of 0.5wte will be welcomed too).
1.0wte (37.5hrs) fixed term contract or secondment until 30/09/2026 (part time at a minimum of 0.5wte will be welcomed too).
As an Acute Trust, you will be required to work regular weekends (currently, for full time staff this is around 1 in 4 weekends – one day only). Respiratory on call duties will be expected, and adequate training to support you with this prior to going on the rota will be provided.
NUH is an exciting place to work and will be able to offer you training opportunities (both clinical and leadership courses that may be internal and/or external to NUH), the experience of working with highly skilled staff and expose you to the world of research and the potential to work with clinical academics to enhance evidence based care.
NUH is a large Acute Teaching Hospital and this post will allow you to work in many specialist areas with a huge variety of patients. Staff will be responsible for a diverse and complex clinical case load. You will be expected to work collaboratively across the MDT with a wide range of Health Care Professionals.
You will have excellent communication and team working skills. You will have a flexible approach and the ability to manage your own time and workload in what is a fast paced working environment. The post has a requirement that you manage and support Band 5’s, Support Staff and Students on Clinical Placement allowing you to develop your leadership, managerial and teaching skills. You will need to lead the Team in the absence of the Band 7.
There is a requirement that you participate in weekend and emergency overnight on-call duties. Previous Respiratory on-call experience is essential.
With over 19,000 staff, we are one of the biggest employers in the city with a central role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our local population. We play a leading role in research, education and innovation.
Come and join our wonderful team at NUH. We are big believers in diversity and welcome new ideas to help develop our team in order to deliver world class healthcare to the vast patient populations we serve. With endless personal development opportunities available, at NUH we will endeavour to turn your job into a career!
We particularly welcome applications from people who identify as Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic, or Disabled, as we are striving to be better represented at NUH.
The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent core physiotherapy skills and a willingness to learn and develop further, both clinically and professionally. You will be working as part of multidisciplinary teams who will give support and training for you to develop in this role to reach your full potential. You will demonstrate an ability to work autonomously and provide support to less experienced members of the team, including students and support workers. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work flexibly to support the needs of the service
