From idea generation through to production, publishing and performance analysis, the Social Media Executive will play a key role in shaping how Sheffield United is represented across digital platforms. The role is responsible for creating engaging, platform-specific content that captures the story of the Club across the women's and men's teams, community and fan engagement initiatives, and commercial partnership activity.

Role Responsibilities:

- Plan, capture and publish high-quality and paid social content using engaging mobile-first footage and assets supplied by the wider content team, supported by best-practice, platform optimised social copy.
- Act as matchday social media lead on a rotational basis for home and away fixtures, working in collaboration with the social media executive to deliver timely, accurate and engaging live coverage, alongside pre- and post- match content
- Distribute and optimise content across all relevant platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, X, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Threads, ensuring content is tailored to audience, platform and objective
- Deliver best in class coverage of training sessions and match fixtures across both the men's and women's teams, demonstrating a reactive, calm and precise approach in high-pressure, live environments
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, including the EFL, WSL, commercial partners and third-party collaborators, to deliver campaigns, activations and content that meet club and partner objectives
- Monitor and analyse platform performance, audience behaviour and content trends, using insights to inform content decisions, improve engagement and optimise output across channels
- Proactively identify new content opportunities and storylines across the club's ecosystem that align with engagement growth, revenue generation or strategic priorities
- Research and stay ahead of platform trends, emerging formats and best practice, proactively recommending and implementing innovations to evolve the club's social media presence
- Ensure all content adheres to Sheffield United's brand guidelines, tone of voice, social media policy and safeguarding requirements, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail at all times
- Maximise the reach and impact of news and editorial content, with a specific focus on driving traffic and engagement to club-owned platforms, including the website, app and streaming services
- Support revenue driving objectives including commercial partnerships, retail campaigns, and ticket sales, through effective social media execution and amplification
- Work collaboratively across marketing and media teams, from concept and planning through to publishing and post-campaign review, ensuring alignment with wider marketing strategies
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with players, coaching staff and internal stakeholders to support content creation and delivery
- Edit and produce platform specific content using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut and Canva, tailoring formats, pacing and creative execution to maximise performance
- Any other reasonable requests as directed by management.

- Carry out and actively participate in all training requests as directed by the Club, including mandatory health and safety training, emergency procedures, fire safety, manual handling, safeguarding, and role-specific safety instruction.

Essential Criteria for the Role:

- Demonstrate experience creating high-performing, platform-native social media content
- Excellent working knowledge of all major social media platforms, with the ability to adapt quickly to platform changes and trends
- Proficient in Adobe Suite, CapCut or similar editing tools; experience with Instagram Edits or Lightroom desirable
- Strong understanding of social media analytics and performance metrics, using insights to inform content decisions and best practice
- Passion for football and strong understanding of the sports media landscape
- A creative and organised thinker with the ability to plan ahead while also reacting quickly when required
- Comfortable delivering live and reactive social media coverage in high-pressure environments
- Flexible and willing to work around the football calendar, including evenings, weekends and matchdays
- Experience working within a professional football club, sporting organisation or live events environment

Desirable Criteria for the Role:
