Role Summary

The Head of Commercial leads the company's commercial strategy and revenue growth within technology manufacturing markets. Operating in a technology-manufacturing / contract manufacturing environment, the role focuses on business development, customer acquisition, new product introduction (NPI) support, pricing and commercial governance, ensuring customer programmes transition smoothly into manufacturing and ongoing production.

This is a senior leadership role, working closely with operations, engineering and the executive team to drive profitable growth and long-term customer partnerships.

Main Responsibilities

  • Define and deliver the commercial strategy to support company growth targets within technology manufacturing sectors.
  • Identify and win new contract manufacturing opportunities; build long-term customer relationships and strategic partnerships.
  • Lead and support new product introductions (NPI) from customer engagement through to production readiness, working closely with engineering, operations and supply chain teams to ensure smooth operational integration.
  • Own pricing strategy, commercial models, contracts, margins and customer segmentation to drive sustainable profitability.
  • Oversee sales, business development and customer management activities; monitor performance through KPIs including revenue, pipeline strength, win rates and customer retention.
  • Manage commercial budgeting, forecasting and revenue planning.
  • Build, lead and develop a high-performing commercial team with a focus on collaboration and delivery.
  • Maintain strong awareness of technology manufacturing market trends, competitor activity and customer requirements; share insights with the leadership team.
  • Represent the company with customers, partners and at industry events as required.
  • Ensure all commercial activities comply with relevant legal and regulatory standards (e.g. competition law, contractual governance).

Key Measures of Success

  • Achievement of revenue and growth targets.
  • Successful onboarding of new customer programmes with smooth transition into manufacturing and operations.
  • Strong and sustainable sales pipeline with high conversion rates.
  • Healthy margins and disciplined commercial controls.
  • High levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business.

Experience & Skills Required

  • 10+ years in commercial leadership roles, with at least 5 years in a senior position within technology manufacturing, electronics manufacturing, industrial manufacturing or contract manufacturing environments.
  • Proven track record in business development and winning complex B2B manufacturing or engineering-led programmes.
  • Hands-on experience supporting NPI in a manufacturing context, working closely with engineering, operations and supply chain teams.
  • Strong understanding of technology manufacturing markets, customer requirements and commercial models.
  • Expertise in pricing, contract negotiation and margin management.
  • Comfortable leading teams and operating cross-functionally with technical and operational stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commercially analytical, with the ability to use data to drive decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • MBA or equivalent qualification advantageous but not essential.
