We’re excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join our dynamic education service. This role offers the chance to work with children and young people (CYP) who have a range of complex learning difficulties, including Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)for 2 days a week alongside 1 day in the mainstream schools team. You'll collaborate closely withboth the mainstream schools team and multi-disciplinary professionals to deliver a tailored service that supports CYP and their families.
In this role, you’ll have the chance to build on your clinical expertise by conducting assessments, identifying needs, and developing, implementing, and evaluating specialist communication interventions, including AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication).

As a Band 7 SLT, your responsibilities will include:
• Providing highly specialised clinical support: Work with children experiencing developmental speech and language delays, disorders, and social communication difficultiesand complex needs.You’ll use your specialist knowledge in specific areas of speech, language, and communication needs to provide targeted interventions.
• Collaborating with families and staff: Partner with parents, carers, and school staff to enhance the communication skills of children and ensure they can fully participate in the curriculum.
• Supporting SEND responsibilities: Contribute to statutory assessments of Special Educational Needs (SEN) as per the Children and Families Act 2014. You’ll also help deliver speech and language therapy as outlined in children’s Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Professional accountability: Take responsibility for your professional actions, recognising your boundaries and seeking advice from senior colleagues when necessary.
• Mentorship and supervision: Provide support to less experienced colleagues and students, including offering second opinions, supervision, and peer review.
• Liaising with external agencies: Work closely with colleagues from a variety of statutory and non-statutory agencies to ensure a holistic approach to each child’s care.
