HMS, part of the Torus Group, is seeking a committed and customer-focused General Construction Operative to join our team. HMS
delivers a wide range of high-quality construction, repairs and maintenance services, and this role plays a key part in ensuring
our customers receive a first-class service. Working across our North West sites, you’ll contribute to improving homes and
neighbourhoods while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and efficiency.
What you will be doing:
* Carrying out a variety of general construction tasks internally and externally, including property clearance, fencing,
painting, groundworks, excavations and environmental works
* Supporting trades colleagues to achieve the “right first time” approach to repairs and project delivery
* Preparing properties for refurbishment, improvement or re-letting
* Using company systems to receive and update work orders, record job information and order materials
* Managing materials, tools, plant and vehicle stock effectively
* Working to scheduled appointments and agreed performance targets
* Communicating positively with customers and keeping them informed about the work being carried out
* Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with health & safety legislation, company policies and quality standards
* Liaising with planners, schedulers and other teams to ensure work is completed efficiently
What we are looking for:
* A CSCS card (appropriate level)
* NVQ Level 2 in a construction or maintenance-related discipline (or equivalent) is desirable
* Experience in groundworks, pointing or similar core construction activities
* A full UK driving licence
* Experience in general construction, property maintenance, environmental clearance or labouring
* A strong customer-focused approach with good communication skills
* The ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Good organisational skills and the ability to use your initiative
* A flexible attitude and willingness to undertake a wide range of duties
* A commitment to health & safety and delivering high-quality work
Interview Process:
* Candidates will undergo in-person interviews, consisting of a competency-based interview.
