Trainee Drainage Technician
Locations: Taunton, Somerset
Salary: £26,000 to £45,000 per annum (including a travel package) + enhanced overtime rates
Contract: Full time, 40 hours per week, plus staying away Monday to Friday

This is an opportunity to retrain into a skilled drainage role with full training provided, clear progression routes, and serious earning potential from day one. You’ll receive full training in high-pressure jetting, CCTV drainage surveys, confined space work, and specialist equipment operation. You’ll be working outdoors, hands-on, solving real problems and maintaining essential infrastructure across the UK.

You’ll start on £12.50 per hour with enhanced overtime rates but, here’s where it gets exciting. This role requires staying away Monday to Friday, and the company is putting together a package worth approximately £1,600 per month on top of your basic pay for working away. Combined with overtime, this creates a strong, consistent monthly income for someone who is motivated and open to travel.

This is not a job for someone who wants to be home every night. It’s ideal for someone who enjoys being on the road, wants to learn a trade properly, and is ready to commit to developing a long-term career in drainage and utilities.

We’re looking for people who are used to practical, physical work, think groundworkers, labourers, civils operatives, construction workers, utilities staff, who want to step into something more skilled and structured.

About You

Be keen to learn and develop a long-term career

Hold a full UK driving licence (ideally clean, maximum 6 points)

Background in groundworks, labouring, construction, civils, utilities, or similar

Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player

Positive “can-do” attitude with a willingness to learn
