As an expert, senior nurse in the field of Lung Cancer Screening the post holder will deliver high quality patient care, acting as a role model for nursing practice across the specialty and Trust. The post holder will act as a source of expertise, advice and knowledge for patients, carers and healthcare professionals and provide expert clinical nursing advice, education and leadership within the specialty. The job holder will be professionally and operationally accountable to the Head of Nursing and work with them in the delivery of the city wide Lung Cancer Screening Programme. The job holder will work in partnership with other colleagues from health and social care providers across the region providing professional leadership and expertise to ensure effective implementation of the strategic Lung Cancer Screening agenda. The post holder will lead and develop specific areas of the Lung Cancer Screening Programme. The post holder will act as a professional non-medical lead for the Lung Cancer Screening and associated pathways. The post holder will work in partnership with the Respiratory Matrons across the service and will have direct operational management responsibility for some aspects of the service. Current service comprises the community mobile lung cancer screening unit and departments across the Leeds Lung Cancer Screening Programme. The jobholder has direct line management of the specialist nurses within the CSU or a part of it. The jobholder is responsible for the management of nursing resources and department budgets. This post will encompass the Lung Cancer Screening Programme Responsible Assessor role. The Responsible Assessor for the Targeted Lung Health Checks programme is a key role working with patients, clinicians, and other partners, to implement the Lung Cancer Screening Programme in Leeds. It is an integral part of the overall programme governance structure with specific responsibility for the safety and operational aspects of the process to select and assess the individual cases for entry into the programme. They will continually oversee and monitor the clinical programme, the assessment and management of participants and provide day to day leadership of the clinical service.
