Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Ward Clerk on the Chemotherapy Day Services department at the Oak Road Treatment Centre.

We are looking for a friendly, professional and enthusiastic individual who will provide administrative support for both patients visiting the department and the nursing staff on duty.

In this role some of the duties required include meeting and greeting patients on the first floor, booking patients in and ensuring they have received their next appointment.

The post holder will work 20 hours per week, 2pm to 6pm over 5 days as the service requires.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Meet and greet patients and visitors to the unit in a professional and courteous manner.

Maintain a pleasant manner at all times, especially when working in a busy and pressured environment.

Maintain a patient centred approach and be aware of the patient’s experience at all times.

Answer phone calls in a professional manner and relay information to appropriate staff members.

Provide patients and visitors with non-clinical information regarding the Trust’s provision of services, as required.

Support the nursing team in the smooth day to day running of services.

Be able to prioritise tasks, and work under own initiative as required.

Provide a first point of contact for all service users, and communicate effectively with the wider multi-disciplinary team.

Maintain patient confidentiality at all times, and demonstrate an awareness of information governance requirements.

Assist in the distribution and collection of questionnaires to patients, for example, 1 Day Every Patient questionnaire and other Patient Questionnaires.

Record patient attendance in Medway in an accurate and timely manner.

Be familiar with all Trust IT systems and utilise them to effectively record elements of the patient’s visit, and to facilitate the provision of services for patients during their visit.

Ensure patient medical notes are tracked to the correct location at all times.

Maintain real time records of patient activity.

Ensure the correct data regarding activity are recorded, for inclusion in annual reports.

Ensure patients leaving the unit have been provided with a subsequent appointment.


Undertake any other administrative or reception duties which are commensurate with the role under the direction of the senior sister.
