Summary

Location: Quarry Road, Wenvoe, Cardiff, Vale of Glamorgan, CF5 6AA
Hours: 37 per week
Start Date: 03 March 2026
End Date: initially for 6 months, extended after review.


About the Client
Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Building Services division delivers essential maintenance and repair services across social housing and public buildings. The team ensures properties remain safe, compliant, and well‑maintained, supporting residents and community facilities across the region.

The Role
This role provides maintenance support across the Vale of Glamorgan area, working within social housing and public buildings. The Council is seeking a qualified Carpenter (Level 3) who can carry out a range of maintenance and repair tasks, travelling to various sites as required. The successful candidate will report to the Alps Depot in Wenvoe and must have their own vehicle.

Key Responsibilities
• Carry out carpentry and general maintenance tasks across social housing and public buildings
• Complete repairs, installations, and maintenance work to a high standard
• Travel across the Vale of Glamorgan area to attend scheduled and reactive jobs
• Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and organisational standards
• Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used
• Liaise with supervisors, tenants, and colleagues to ensure efficient service delivery
• Represent the Council professionally when working in occupied properties

Candidate Requirements
• Level 3 qualification in Carpentry (essential)
• Own vehicle and ability to report to the Alps Depot in Wenvoe
• Experience working within social housing or public building environments
• Strong understanding of maintenance and repair procedures
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
• Good communication skills and a professional approach
• Commitment to delivering high‑quality workmanship
