Purpose of the Role
The Family Time / Supervised Contact Worker is responsible for delivering supervised child contact sessions on a session‑by‑session basis. The role exists to safeguard and promote the welfare of children by supervising contact between children and their parents or family members, ensuring safety, appropriate professional boundaries, and child‑focused practice at all times. Work is carried out in accordance with court directions, local authority instructions, and organisational policies and procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Supervised Contact
Supervise contact sessions between children and parents or other family members.
Ensure sessions are conducted safely, calmly, and in a neutral, child‑focused manner.
Manage behaviour during sessions and maintain clear professional boundaries at all times.
Intervene appropriately where concerns arise and end or suspend sessions where necessary to ensure safety.

Safeguarding and Child Welfare
Safeguard and promote the welfare of children at all times.
Remain alert to safeguarding risks throughout contact sessions.
Act in the best interests of the child and follow all safeguarding policies and procedures.
Report safeguarding concerns immediately in line with organisational requirements.

Observation, Recording and Reporting
Observe interactions between children and family members objectively and accurately.
Prepare clear, factual, and timely written reports following each contact session.
Ensure all records and reports meet organisational standards and may be suitable for use by local authorities or courts.

Professional Conduct
Carry out all duties with reasonable skill and care.
Work in accordance with Stay Connected Family Time’s policies, procedures, and codes of conduct.
Maintain professional boundaries and avoid conflicts of interest.
Attend supervision, training, and meetings as required.

Confidentiality and Data Protection
Maintain strict confidentiality in relation to children, families, court proceedings, reports, and organisational information.
Comply with data protection legislation and organisational data handling requirements.
Use approved secure systems and methods for handling and sharing reports and personal data.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Experience of working with children and families in a safeguarding, social care, or related setting.
Understanding of safeguarding principles and child welfare.
Ability to observe, record, and report information accurately and objectively.
Ability to work calmly and professionally in potentially challenging situations.
Commitment to high standards of professional conduct, confidentiality, and child‑focused practice.

Additional Requirements
Enhanced DBS clearance.
Right to work in the UK.
Willingness to work flexibly on a sessional basis.
