Hays are pleased to be supporting an ambitious and forward‑thinking two-form entry primary school based in Coventry. The school are looking for a dedicated Year 2 teacher to cover maternity leave beginning after Easter and continuing until the end of the academic year. This is a full‑time role with full teaching responsibilities.
Your new role
- Teaching well‑planned, engaging and purposeful lessons for a Year 2 class, ensuring pupils are supported and motivated in their learning.
- Working closely with colleagues to maintain consistency, continuity and high‑quality provision across the phase.
- Following the school's curriculum while adapting teaching approaches to meet the needs of all learners, including those who may require additional support.
- Monitoring progress, keeping accurate assessment records and providing meaningful feedback to help pupils move forward.
- Contributing positively to the wider school community and demonstrating professionalism, flexibility and a commitment to the school's values.
What you'll need to succeed
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching in primary settings, ideally within year 2.
- Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
- Secure curriculum knowledge and the ability to deliver high‑quality, engaging teaching.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with staff, pupils and parents.
