A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Band 7 Ward Manager to lead Ward 7, an acute medical ward specialising in the care of older adults within Older People’s Medicine, on a 12 month fixed term contract/secondment. This is your chance to shape a high‑performing nursing team and work alongside a forward‑thinking multidisciplinary group committed to delivering exceptional patient care.
In this pivotal role, you will provide strong, visible leadership with full 24‑hour responsibility for the ward. You will drive evidence‑based practice, champion high standards, and support your team to deliver safe, compassionate, and effective care. This is an ideal post for a dynamic leader ready to influence service quality and make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes.
• The Ward Manager will play a key role in ensuring older adults receive high‑quality, holistic care that promotes wellbeing and effectively manages complex health needs. This requires applying specialist clinical expertise and leading the team to deliver safe, person‑centred practice.
• Success in this role depends on strong partnership working with Consultants, Divisional Director of Nursing; Heads of Nursing, Deputy Head of Nursing, Matrons, Ward Managers, TRI, and the Clinical Site Management team.
• It calls for exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, along with the confidence to handle challenging situations in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining professionalism and calm leadership.

• Continually assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based programmes of care to ensure the provision of a high standard of care.
• Personally deliver a high standard of care to a group of patients, acting as a team leader / named nurse and clinical role model at all time
• Ensure the provision of advice, support and health information to patients and their carers to promote a health-based service
• Transports / manages people and/or items such as equipment or specimens safely and to time consistent with legislation, policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate and legible records of all clinical and legal documentation to include accident / incident reporting, with regard to NMC, statutory and Trust polices.
• Ensures all aspects of clinical care including interventions and investigations are performed, assessed and reported upon in a timely fashion and in a manner consistent with legislation, policy and procedures.
