Job Description Salaried General Practitioner (0.2 WTE)Job Title: Salaried GPSessions: 2 per week (0.2 WTE)Accountable to: GP PartnersLine Manager: Dr T SivarajahContract Type: Salaried (GMS Contract) Practice Overview Meadow View Surgery is a well-established NHS General Practice serving approximately 7,000 patients in Northolt. The practice is committed to delivering high-quality, accessible, and patient-centred primary care responsive to the needs of the local community. Job Summary The post holder will work as an autonomous medical practitioner providing comprehensive primary medical services to the registered practice population in accordance with the GMS contract. The Salaried GP will deliver an excellent standard of clinical care while adhering to GMC standards for Good Medical Practice. The role involves contributing to clinical governance, quality improvement, multidisciplinary teamwork, and the strategic development of the practice. The post holder will lead by example, maintain high professional standards, and foster positive working relationships across the multidisciplinary team. Primary Responsibilities The core responsibilities of the Salaried GP include, but are not limited to: 1. Clinical Care Provide high-quality, evidence-based medical care to the registered patient population. Undertake face-to-face, telephone, and where appropriate online consultations. Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions. Provide safe and effective prescribing in accordance with local and national guidance. Deliver care in line with the GMS contract and NICE guidance. Manage long-term conditions and contribute to chronic disease management clinics. Provide health promotion and preventative care advice. 2. Clinical Administration Process referrals, prescriptions, test results, reports, and associated documentation in a timely manner. Maintain accurate, contemporaneous, and legally compliant clinical records using SNOMED/read coding. Ensure high standards of documentation and data entry to support audit and QOF achievement. 3. Duty and Triage Participate in telephone triage and duty doctor sessions on a rotational basis. Manage urgent same-day clinical queries as required. 4. Prescribing Prescribe generically wherever clinically appropriate. Adhere to local formulary, medicines management guidance, and cost-effective prescribing principles. Support medicines optimisation initiatives. 5. Quality & Governance Contribute to QOF achievement and quality improvement initiatives. Participate in clinical audit and service evaluation. Engage in significant event reviews and root cause analysis where appropriate. Contribute to CQC readiness and compliance. Adhere to practice protocols and policies at all times. 6. Collaborative Working Work effectively as part of the multidisciplinary team including nurses, HCAs, pharmacists, and administrative staff. Liaise with community services, secondary care, and external agencies as required. Promote a culture of teamwork, openness, and shared learning. 7. Teaching & Development Support training of medical students and other learners. Maintain an active commitment to continuing professional development (CPD). Participate fully in annual appraisal and GMC revalidation. Identify personal learning needs and engage in mandatory training. 8. Practice Development Contribute to strategic discussions and service development. Support initiatives aimed at improving access, patient satisfaction, and income optimisation. Assist partners in identifying efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities. Secondary Responsibilities Participate in practice audits as directed. Contribute to local and ICB initiatives where appropriate. Support service redesign and new models of care. Undertake delegated clinical lead responsibilities where agreed. Assist with enhanced services delivery if required. Person SpecificationEssential Qualifications Qualified General Practitioner MRCGP CCT (or equivalent JCPTGP) Full GMC registration with licence to practise Inclusion on the NHS Performers List Appropriate medical indemnity cover DBS clearance Essential Experience Experience working in UK primary care Understanding of the GMS contract Experience in QOF and clinical audit Commitment to CPD Essential Skills Excellent clinical knowledge and diagnostic skills Strong communication skills (verbal and written) Effective time management Ability to work independently and within a team Strong IT competence (EMIS/SystmOne/Vision desirable) Good organisational and problem-solving skills Personal Qualities Professional, empathetic and patient-focused Flexible and adaptable Calm under pressure Motivated and forward thinking High level of integrity Working Pattern 2 sessions per week (0.2 WTE). Flexibility may be required to support service delivery, including occasional extended access sessions where mutually agreed. Leave & Benefits Annual leave entitlement pro-rata to sessions worked.
