Finance Assistant
Part-Time (16 hours) | Permanent

At John Smedley, we’ve been crafting the world’s finest knitwear since 1784 — and behind every stitch of our garments is a well-run, precise, and dependable finance operation. We’re looking for an organised, detail-focused Accounts Assistant to join our Finance Department and help keep our books balanced and our payments flowing.


What You’ll Do

You’ll be an essential part of our small Finance team, ensuring invoices are processed accurately, suppliers are paid on time, and records are kept up to date. Your responsibilities will include:

Posting and processing supplier invoices.
Managing invoice approvals through our finance system.
Reconciling supplier statements with our Purchase Ledger.
Preparing the weekly payment run.
Maintaining accurate bank balance records.
Importing invoices into our purchase order system.
Assisting the Finance team with general ledger and other ad-hoc tasks.
Who you are:

·Experienced in a finance, accounts, or bookkeeping environment. (Desired not essential)

·Confident with Excel and comfortable with accounting software.

·Accurate, methodical, and highly organised.

·A good communicator who can work well with colleagues across departments.

·Happy to work flexibly in a small, supportive team.
