Summary

Project Manager – Construction & Refurbishment
Location: Bury St Edmunds with nationwide sites

Overview
A well‑established and growing construction and refurbishment contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to deliver high‑quality projects across 4 key national clients in the retail and hospitality sectors. Projects include refurbishments, fit‑outs, extensions and commercial upgrades, with work spanning regions from Yorkshire down to Bristol and across to Merseyside.

You’ll be based in Bury St Edmunds, spending around two months of the year in the office supporting planning and pre‑construction. For the rest of the year, you’ll be on site, delivering projects nationwide. Some work will be local to Bury St Edmunds, but the role does involve regular national travel.

Key Responsibilities
Manage construction and refurbishment projects from inception to completion
Deliver projects across retail, hospitality and commercial environments
Oversee extensions, refurbishments, fit‑outs and fast‑track programmes
Lead site teams, subcontractors and suppliers
Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget
Interpret drawings, specifications and contract documents
Maintain strong communication with clients, consultants and stakeholders
Prepare programmes, progress reports and project documentation
Monitor costs, variations and profitability
Ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials
Approve purchase invoices and timesheets
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and CDM Regulations
Support pre‑construction planning during office‑based periods
Build and maintain positive working relationships across all teams

Requirements
Proven experience as a Project Manager in construction or refurbishment
Experience delivering retail, hospitality or commercial projects
Strong organisational, leadership and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects across different regions
Commercial awareness and understanding of contract processes
Confident with IT systems and project software
Self‑motivated, proactive and able to work independently
Full UK driving licence
Willingness to travel nationwide as required
