PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Clinical Work within the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) Code of Conduct. To fulfil the requirements as directed by the NMC or HCPC to maintain and revalidate registration Deliver a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust guidelines and policies. Provides, receives and interprets complex information to enable delivery of appropriate interventions of care Independently assess, diagnose, prioritise, treat and safely discharge patients in accordance with agreed protocols. Act as a referral agent and co-ordinator of care provision. Establishes effective multi-agency collaboration across the primary/secondary interface to meet the needs of the patients. To promote heath giving health promotion advice when and where appropriate. Act as a role model for the development of clinical skills and knowledge within the department team. Maintain a safe working environment. Support the line manager in setting and monitoring standards and seek to continuously improve standards and the quality of patient care, and promote evidence based best practice. Work closely with Research and Innovation to promote research, disseminate outcomes and findings to support evidence-based practice To maintain accurate, detailed written records in accordance with the NMC and LTHT policies and guidelines. Ensure the safe use and efficient management of equipment and supplies. Undertake audit/research as required. Actively promote and use the Leeds Improvement Method to improve the quality and safety of the service Service development in line with local/National initiatives. Child & vulnerable adult protection. Undertake duties on other wards or departments as and when required by service demands or patient need Act in such a way that safeguards the health and wellbeing of children and vulnerable adults at all times. Is familiar with and adheres to, the LTHT safeguarding policies. Education and Training Contribute to the promotion of a positive learning environment within the clinical area. Participate in own and others appraisals Undertake mandatory and priority training within the required time scales Participate in preceptorship and mentorship programmes. Undertake continuous professional and clinical development, seeking opportunities to enhance skills. Participate in clinical supervision. Managerial Working with the line manager to provide leadership to the clinical team, developing new rotas/ways of working. Support the line manager in staff rostering, ensuring adequate skill mix. In conjunction with the line manager closely monitor bank and agency usage. Support the line manager in investigating and responding to accidents, complaints, untoward incidents and other significant events. Raise concerns with regards to risk, danger, malpractice or wrong doing by following the LTHT Whistleblowing policy and supporting processes
