You will play an integral role in shaping, developing and embedding our new provision, ensuring the highest standards of inclusive practice and support for all learners.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

Lead and develop the SRB provision, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning and care
Plan, deliver and assess engaging, inclusive learning tailored to pupils’ individual needs
Work closely with the Headteacher, ALNCo, senior leadership team and external professionals to ensure effective support and provision
Lead and support staff working within the SRB, fostering a collaborative and reflective team culture
Contribute to whole-school inclusion, ensuring pupils in the SRB are fully part of school life where appropriate
Monitor progress, maintain accurate records and contribute to reviews and planning processes
Engage positively with parents and carers, building strong, trusting relationships

The Ideal Candidate Will:

Be an excellent classroom practitioner with high expectations for all learners
Have experience of working with pupils with additional learning needs (ALN/SEN), ideally within a specialist or resource base setting
Demonstrate strong leadership skills, or show clear potential to lead a provision
Have a secure understanding of inclusive practice and personalised learning
Be committed to safeguarding, wellbeing and positive behaviour support
Be reflective, resilient and enthusiastic about developing a new provision

We Offer:

An exciting opportunity to lead a brand-new SRB provision from its outset
A highly supportive leadership team committed to inclusion and professional development
Enthusiastic pupils and a welcoming school community
Opportunities for further training and leadership development

“Rhiw Syr Dafydd Primary School is a positive, community focused learning environment where the well-being and safeguarding of pupils and staff is a priority. School leaders and staff work to promote a vision that focuses on striving to ensure that all pupils are happy, healthy, and safe.

Staff develop positive, caring, and respectful relationships with pupils. Teachers and skilled teaching assistants support pupils’ learning effectively. They encourage respect and understanding, which leads to an inclusive and considerate culture. Staff’s expertise in supporting pupils’ emotional well-being enables them to sensitively support pupils through the challenges they face daily. Provision for emotional well-being development is a strength, and most pupils make good progress in developing strategies to understand and manage their emotions well.

Staff at Rhiw Syr Dafydd Primary School create a caring community for pupils and their families. The supportive and friendly working relationships between staff and pupils is a strength of the school. This is reflected in nearly all pupils’ good behaviour and their positive attitudes towards their learning and school life. Senior leaders develop strong links with the local community and organise beneficial opportunities for parents to take part in events and workshops. This enables them to support their child’s learning at home effectively.

The school’s provision for pupils with additional learning needs (ALN) is a strength. The effective ALN co-ordinators work with class teachers to assess pupils’ needs at an early stage and devise valuable pupil profiles where appropriate. Staff create inclusive learning environments and safe spaces for pupils to explore their senses and communicate their emotions and feelings. As a result, the support for pupils with social and emotional needs is highly effective.”– Estyn 2024
