Following a review of our services and Divisions, we now have3vacancies for Divisional Medical Directors within the following areas:
Division One – Surgery, Women’s and Children’s leading elective and emergency surgery, theatres, critical care and women and children’s services.
Division Two – Neighbourhood Care leading community and diagnostic services, patient flow, discharge and reablement, and strengthening local health and care.
Division Three – Medicine and Emergency Care leading urgent and emergency care, acute medicine and integrated hospital pathways.
This is an exciting opportunity for aspiring and motivated clinicians to join us here as a Divisional Medical Director. We are looking for someone with a passion for real change who will work closely with the Associate Divisional Director of Operations and the Associate Divisional Director of Nursing to lead and manage the division in a unified and collaborative way. The successful candidate will be a clinician with the drive to improve quality, safety, efficiency, and experience of all our patients. You will possess the necessary skills and experience to successfully lead, and line manage Heads of Department within the division.
The Divisional Medical Director (DMD) is a key senior clinical management and leadership position and is expected to work as a triumvirate with the Associate Director of Operations (ADoP) and the Associate Director of Nursing (ADoN) to ensure that the Division is well managed, developed and directed to ensure delivery of high quality, safe, efficient and effective patient care. The post holder is responsible and accountable for performance delivery within the Division, and for ensuring that all clinical activity is of a high quality and delivers the necessary performance and activity levels agreed to under the Divisional Financial Management Framework.
As such, the DMD is required to ensure that programmes for performance management and business development are consistent with the Trust's need for clinical effectiveness, flexibility, value for money, high staff morale and improving patient care.
This role’s responsibility includes the day-to-day line management of the Heads of Department (HoD) ensuring that the HoDs deliver high quality patient care, clinical effectiveness and the activity and performance levels required by the Trust.
Working for your organisation
This role is open to Consultant and SAS Doctors. The job will be based upon a time commitment of 6 PA’s and will include a responsibility payment of £15k.

The Trust is also responsible for the provision of a wide range of community healthcare services, including District Nursing, Community Matrons and therapy services.
The organisation provides specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology services, delivers community health services to over 445,000 residents including those in North Lancashire and hosts the National Artificial Eye Service across England. We also have specialised Cardio-thoracic Surgical and Sleep Medicine services (including polysomnography) and provide urgent and emergency care services to an estimated 18 million people who visit the seaside resort each year.
