As a school, we sit within the Faculty of Science and Engineering, providing opportunities for multidisciplinary teaching and research activities. In our school, we have an extensive portfolio of research encompassing Offshore Renewable Energy, Marine & Maritime technologies, Coastal Engineering and Robotics to Maritime Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence & Data Science. With many internationally recognised experts, our academic staff are passionate about providing an innovative and inspiring learning experience.
About the role
We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Civil Engineering, who will contribute to our teaching and research predominantly in Structural Analysis and Design. The role includes teaching across our undergraduate and postgraduate engineering programmes, contributing to an inspiring and professionally-focused learning experience for our students. You may be required to take part in internationalisation activities (including overseas teaching delivery opportunities) and widening participation activities. As such, you should have experience of providing high quality teaching at these levels.
You will:
• Have the opportunity to make full use of our new Heavy Structures, Materials and Geotechnics laboratories, equipped with an extensive range of state‑of‑the‑art equipment to support both teaching and research.
• Join an active team of Civil, Structural and Coastal Engineers with established research portfolios that you can help shape and develop.
• Take an active approach to interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary teaching and research collaborations and will be able to demonstrate external collaborations with the potential for generating impacts.
Due to the nature of the role, unfortunately we are unable to accommodate working from home.
The successful candidate may be required to obtain an ATAS Certificate prior to this research being undertaken.
