Department of ENT Paediatric Fellow (ST8 Level) - October 2026 to October 2027
Applications are invited for a Paediatric Fellow at ST8 Level in ENT Surgery based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary. The successful candidate will work closely with our experienced consultants, led by Mr Theodoros Valsamakis and Miss Marianne Elloy. The appointment is for a whole time non-resident Paediatric ENT Fellow, providing training in all aspects of Paediatric ENT. This is a 12 month clinical fellowship programme designed to develop skills to a level that will enable independent practice as a Paediatric ENT Consultant.
This post is designed as a post CCT position, but those nearing completion of their specialist training programme or equivalent will be considered. Please note however that this period may not be accredited for training by the Royal College of Surgeons.
The appointment will be at the grade of ST8 for both daily clinical work and for on-call work. The Department serves the entire Leicestershire area with a number of sub-specialty interests being represented. There are also close links with the Leicester University Medical School.
The Fellow will be a senior non-consultant member of the ENT department, and will receive comprehensive training in Paediatric ENT.
The general duties such as organisation and running of clinics and operating lists in the consultants’ absence are commensurate with the position of a senior member of the firm.
The Fellow will develop skills in the evaluation and management of Specialist Paediatric ENT inpatient referrals and support the team enhancing flow of this patient group.
1 in 8 ‘hot week’ on-call rota, supervising emergency cases, and ward patients, during the working day.
Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).
We have four primary goals:
• high-quality care for all,
• being a great place to work,
• partnerships for impact, and
• research and education excellence
And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.
Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
• we are compassionate,
• we are proud,
• we are inclusive, and
• we are one team
This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
