Are you an early-career professional looking for a new challenge? Kirklees Council is seeking a forward-thinking individual to support transport project development.
Join us in driving the future of transport in the North of England and help us shape sustainable, connected communities.
Kirklees – The Heart of the North’s Transport Transformation
Nestled in the heart of the North, Kirklees is at the forefront of an exciting, once-in-a-generation transport revolution. With significant investments in public transport and active travel infrastructure, we are on a mission to create safer, healthier, and more accessible travel options for everyone.
As we collaborate with West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA), Kirklees is working to develop a new integrated transport network with improved active travel, franchised Weaver Network buses and rail. Plans include exploring a Mass Transit route connecting Leeds, White Rose, and Dewsbury, creating seamless travel options for all. Through funding from initiatives such as the Active Travel Fund, Transforming Cities Fund, and the City Regional Sustainable Transport Settlement, we are expanding active travel networks and improving urban and rural areas alike.
Excitingly, the multi-billion-pound Transpennine Route Upgrade project is underway, bringing faster, more reliable trains across the region, with significant improvements to 8 stations within Kirklees, including Huddersfield and Dewsbury. This project is transforming connectivity across the Pennines, connecting communities to Leeds, Manchester, York, Liverpool, and beyond.
