All about the Role

Do you believe every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of the barriers they face?
Are you passionate about supporting learners with SEN and Autism to build confidence, independence and essential life skills?

City College Peterborough's Study Skills Department is seeking a Multi-Skills SEN Tutor to join our Alternative Provision team. We are excited about our future growth and are looking for someone who shares our vision and ambition for young people.

Due to an expansion in teaching, we are looking for a confident, motivated and flexible Tutor who can inspire learners and help them achieve their full potential in a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment. Could you deliver meaningful learning while embedding English and Maths in a way that meets individual needs?

You will work closely with other Lecturers and support staff to raise learner achievement, promote social inclusion, and develop self-esteem and independence. Are you someone who can adapt your approach, think on your feet and respond to challenges with tact and empathy?

This role requires initiative, resilience and a genuine commitment to learner success. Can you motivate young people, manage varied learning needs and remain flexible in a dynamic Alternative Provision setting?

You will be GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths, with experience (or a strong interest) in working with young people with Special Educational Needs, particularly Autism. We are ambitious for our learners — do you have the drive and determination to help them aspire and achieve?

All our staff are dedicated to education, training and skills, with learners at the heart of everything we do. Do you want to be part of a college where people truly make the difference?

The role will include:

Delivering multi-skills teaching tailored to learners with SEN and Autism

Embedding English and Maths into vocational and personal development learning

Providing tutorial and pastoral support to learners

Monitoring, supporting and recording learner progress

Contributing to the ongoing development of the Study Skills Department

Completing associated administrative tasks accurately and efficiently

The successful candidate will be required to:

Demonstrate strong subject knowledge in Autism and SEN provision

Have a multi-skilled teaching approach

Build effective, professional relationships with young people

Provide innovative, engaging and stimulating learning experiences

Monitor progress and adapt delivery to meet individual learner needs

Work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve timely outcomes

The College firmly believes that its employees are the heart of the organisation. Having the right people in the right roles is key to our continued success — could that be you?

All appointments are subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, including an Enhanced DBS check
